- ➤ Good Friday observers ascended Mt. Cristo Rey in Sunland Park starting at 5 a.m. yesterday, with an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 people climbing and no pets allowed. Reporter Nicole Ardila joined the pilgrims who reflected on Jesus Christ's crucifixion and looked forward to Easter Sunday. KVIA

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices are climbing in El Paso as many drivers pay about $4.19 per gallon in west and central areas; AAA reports the local average is $3.99 (with statewide prices lower and national prices a bit higher). Some residents are cutting non-essential spending to manage costs. KFOX14
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT will close sections of I-10 and nearby routes from April 6 through April 12 for road widening and construction work including bridge demolition, pavement marking, & concrete paving; drivers should follow posted detours to navigate work zones. KFOX14
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The FDA recalled millions of bottles of eye drops distributed at Walgreens & H-E-B and Kroger due to a lack of assurance of sterility. The recall began on March 3 and was recently ranked Class II, meaning the product may cause temporary health issues. El Paso Times

- ➤ After the season ended, 15 UTEP football players entered the transfer portal and 14 joined spring rosters at schools such as South Florida, Cal, Wake Forest and Syracuse. Their moves set the stage for adjustments in team lineups for the upcoming season. El Paso Times

- ➤ Burges High School boys soccer team lost 4+2 in penalty kicks to Frisco Wakeland on Friday at Astound Broadband Stadium after a 1+1 tie in regulation and overtime; the team ended its season at 19+6 as Frisco advances to the state title game. El Paso Times
