  • UTEP and Astroscale U.S. partnered on April 30 to boost student research in satellite servicing and manufacturing, with UTEP offering hands-on aerospace projects to build a local workforce + the collaboration supports El Paso’s rising role in advanced manufacturing and defense.  El Paso Times
  • Ysleta ISD plans to hold a tax ratification election in November to generate revenue amid dropping enrollment, said Superintendent Xavier De La Torre. The measure (a shift from debt repayment to operations) could lower property taxes and help avoid potential layoffs as the district faces a budget deficit.  El Paso Matters
  • New Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk faces shrinking enrollment, budget pressures, and campus safety concerns at EPISD, which is operating at about 60% capacity; the district offers a $3,000 resignation incentive and is investigating safety issues at Don Haskins School.  KFOX14

  • Sixty uninsured adults aged 60 and older received free dental screenings and cleanings in March at the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic during its annual Screen and Clean event.   • Thirty-two players from Texas universities were chosen in the NFL Draft, with Texas A&M leading with 10 picks, Texas Tech following, and UTEP posting no selections though two players earned undrafted free agent tryouts with New Orleans and Tampa Bay.
