- ➤ Court documents show a 15-year-old boy in El Paso faced ongoing neglect and abuse—locked in his room without food or water—as police on June 11 arrested his adoptive parents Richard Ramirez, 51, and Nora Ramirez, 52, who later posted bond under $100,000. KTSM

- ➤ The El Paso ISD Board of Trustees approved the operational budget on June 18, which includes teacher pay raises and reduces the deficit to $6 million. - ➤ Leaders at Lydia Patterson Institute worry that the State Department’s pause on student visa appointments will disrupt enrollment for many students, including those who cross daily from Juárez. - ➤ El Paso High School girls soccer player Kylie Alvarez has verbally committed to play for UTEP starting in 2026 and will finish her senior season at El Paso High while joining friend Lauren Varela, following a season in which she earned first team All-City honors with 21 goals and 19 assists. - ➤ El Paso natives Armani Raygoza and Diego Cardenas earned postseason honors in Division I college baseball after standout seasons, with Raygoza at UT-Rio Grande Valley achieving All-American status and Cardenas at Abilene Christian University receiving ABCA/Rawlings Central All-Region recognition. Raygoza hit 17 home runs and had 60 RBIs while Cardenas hit 19 home runs and tallied 67 RBIs — their awards mark key milestones for our local talent. El Paso Times
