- ➤ Texas has approved an extra $850 million for special education and committed $1.3 billion in basic cost assistance to fund schools based on the student’s needs — a change that replaces an old location-based approach. The reform closes a $1.7 billion gap, earmarks $615 million for this year’s special education, and provides extra funds per student for evaluations and hiring key professionals — aiming to improve services for students.
