- ➤ Several El Paso organizations will hold a free Lucha Libre event this Saturday to raise funds for mammogram screenings for uninsured women. - ➤ Yesterday, the Canutillo Independent School District held a groundbreaking ceremony at Reyes Elementary School to start a $2 million renovation that will improve safety, wireless connectivity, heating and cooling, and interactive board systems—part of the 2024 bond approved last May and expected to complete in about one year. - ➤ Attorney Daniela Labinoti said if you are at fault in an accident you cannot file a lawsuit against another person and must check your insurance for collision and PIP coverage—one case showed a driver collected $10,000 in benefits to cover medical expenses and lost wages for everyone in the car. - ➤ El Paso Matters is asking residents, commuters and business owners how the Downtown 10 project will affect their daily routines as I-10 is widened — from Executive Boulevard to Copia Street—to ease congestion while possibly disrupting neighborhoods and businesses. - ➤ Kratom, a plant-based supplement sold at gas stations and vitamin shops, is raising safety concerns in Texas since low doses act as a stimulant and high doses can mimic opioid effects. Ernesto Reyes from Crime Stoppers said buyers must be at least 18, yet its display near registers worries experts—chemical additives may enhance its addictive potential. KFOX14
