  • El Paso’s Bishop Mark Seitz and Auxiliary Bishop Anthony Celino met with Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City recently — they spent 15 minutes with immigration advocates including Msgr. Arturo Banuelas and Hope Border Institute members to show the pope letters and a video about border issues.  KVIA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Frontier Airlines launched a new nonstop service from El Paso International Airport to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport yesterday. The service operates three times per week—offering locals and travelers affordable access to more destinations.  KFOX14

CRIME NEWS

  • Nurse Practitioner Victor Lee Ilog voluntarily surrendered his license after a Texas Board of Nursing report alleged he inappropriately engaged in sexual relationships with patients from September 2021 to April 2025 — his settlement now bars him from working as an advanced registered nurse or registered nurse for at least one year.  KVIA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Ali Wong will perform at Abraham Chavez Theatre at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 as part of her Ali Wong Live 2026 Tour. Presale tickets began Oct. 8—general tickets will go on sale Oct. 10 via Ticketmaster.  El Paso Times
  • Today, Trivia on Tap launches at Old Sheepdog Brewery from 6 to 8 p.m.—an event supporting local journalism—while later this week Chalk the Block returns to downtown, turning streets into an outdoor art gallery from Oct. 11—12. Other events include a Halloween market at the county coliseum, UTEP Florafest for native plants, a museum exhibit on Asian cultures and a family-friendly Fire Fest 2025.  El Paso Matters
  • El Paso will host the 18th annual Chalk the Block arts festival on Oct. 11-12 in Downtown—with nearly 200 artists, live performances, and vendors—and Jersey Shore’s DJ Pauly D is set to perform a pool day show at The Elmont on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. Other events include haunted attractions at Western Playland and seasonal corn maze activities in the region.  El Paso Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar said local credit unions are providing zero-interest loans to federal workers who will miss their paycheck Friday due to the ongoing government shutdown—federal employees can also attend a resource fair Saturday at 9 a.m. at Project Amistad on Dyer for additional support.  KFOX14
  • Today, El Paso attorney Daniela Labinoti explained that to claim compensation for car damage from potholes, one must prove the government knew of the defect in advance—she stressed that property damage cases are very challenging. She added that injury claims may see better results and advised handling minor damage claims independently due to high legal fees.  KFOX14
  • The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a training exercise at Mountain View High School in Homestead Meadows South tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.—the public may see a heavy law enforcement presence and hear loud noises during the drill but face no risk.  KVIA

HEALTH NEWS

  • During flu, cold and COVID season, Dr. Kristopher Crawford from Mountain View Regional Medical Center said people should go to the ER if they have trouble breathing, chest pain, or become very dehydrated and use urgent care for less serious issues. He said parents should take children with a high fever, constant vomiting, or tiredness to the ER — a new urgent care center will open soon to offer more care.  KFOX14
