  • El Paso Community College’s Center for Student Disabilities hosted its 3rd Annual Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat where over 2,000 children and adults enjoyed costume fun, treats, games, pumpkin painting, and book gifts in a safe environment for kids with autism and other disabilities – the free event was a joint effort with local groups including The ARC of El Paso, Down Syndrome Coalition, Mike Dee's Big Adventure, and Vision for El Paso.  KVIA

  • The El Paso Times announced a partnership with Perplexity—an AI-powered search engine—to use its local content in AI-driven answers, and the deal will provide new revenue to support local journalism. The agreement means that trusted news from the newsroom will be featured by AI platforms when residents search for community information.  El Paso Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • El Paso enjoyed spooky fun at the Halloween Town Market held at the El Paso County Coliseum this past weekend. Families had a great time with trick-or-treating, a lively costume contest, local food, live music, and themed crafts—making it a memorable community event.  KVIA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • El Paso Community College is hosting a job fair for students of all abilities on Tuesday, October 14th at the Valle Verde Campus from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M.—the event will offer jobs, internships, and on-site résumé reviews—designed to help participants build their careers.  KVIA
  • Canutillo ISD broke ground this morning at the new Davenport Elementary School site in Enchanted Hills—an initiative under the $387 million bond program approved in May 2024—to build a 21st-century facility with 36 classrooms, a gym, library, cafeteria, and outdoor learning areas that is scheduled for completion in 2027.  KFOX14

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal employees missed their first paycheck because of the government shutdown while Rep. Veronica Escobar held a resource fair Friday to offer interest—free loans, mental health support and utility assistance. SPORTS NEWS

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert Sanchez returned from Germany after a nine‑month rotation to surprise his son, safety Xavier Ramirez, at Pebble Hills High School football game on Friday, Oct. 10 — his arrival brought cheers from his family and the crowd.  El Paso Times
  • High school football games for Week 7 will take place on October 16 and 17—teams such as Deming, Santa Teresa, and others will compete on Thursday and Friday as match-ups are set for a busy weekend. Local high schools will face off in several contests in an important part of the season.  KFOX14
  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert Sanchez surprised his son, Xavier Ramirez, during the Pebble Hills High football game Friday night when a video message on the big screen showed his return from nine months in Germany. He embraced his son on the field—an emotional moment that moved the crowd.  KVIA
