COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A water main break flooded a major street in northeast El Paso around 3:30 a.m., affecting between 50 and 500 residents and delaying service as crews worked at 5117 Antonio Ave (near Dyer and Rushing).  KVIA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • GreenPower Motor Company will open its U.S. headquarters and major EV manufacturing plant in Santa Teresa, just minutes from El Paso. The move is expected to add over 340 jobs (a boost for local business) in the coming months.  El Paso Inc.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • El Paso residents are expected to earn and spend more this year, which could lead to increased home and vehicle purchases despite ongoing affordability challenges.  El Paso Inc.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Due to a water main break, Ysleta Independent School District has excused students from classes today and suspended school buses in the Northeast, with cancelled schools — Parkland Pre-K Center, Desertaire, Dolphin Terrace, North Star, Parkland Elementary, Parkland Middle and Parkland High — while other campuses hold classes as usual.  KVIA
  • Fourteen school campuses in the Northeast and Central area, including Andress, Irvin, and TMECHS high schools, will be closed today because of a water main break. District officials are working with El Paso Water Utilities to restore service and will update parents once more details are available.  KVIA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Due to rising premiums, some El Paso families are changing coverage; Eva Moreno-Guerrero canceled her costly employer plan last year (saving over $2,000) to pursue cheaper care in Juárez.
