ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A water main break Saturday night on Gschwind Street displaced a family of 10 after their home was declared unsafe + El Paso Water arranged a hotel stay until Friday while crews drained water from affected areas. KFOX14
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The action thriller One Battle After Another won four Golden Globe Awards last night and was partly shot in El Paso for 18 days from May to June 2024, contributing nearly $6 million to local spending. The production brought excitement with star sightings in Downtown and at Cafe Central. El Paso Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UTEP will unveil Texas Western Hall, a 124,725-sqft learning complex, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, adjacent to the Liberal Arts Building; the university will shift morning courses to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule & add over 200 course sections each semester. KFOX14
- ➤ An 8-year-old student with autism left Desertaire Elementary on Friday morning (around 7:35 a.m.) and was found near his home at 10 a.m., prompting his family to file a police report as the school reviews its campus security. KFOX14
- ➤ Canutillo ISD's Board of Trustees is set to finalize a contract for superintendent finalist Dr. Josue D. Borrego at Monday night's meeting. He was unanimously selected in December after a nationwide search and is expected to begin his duties in January following the state-mandated 21-day waiting period. KVIA
- ➤ Ysleta ISD resumes classes today after a water main break—seven Parkland-area schools open with water fountains blocked while handwashing stations offer sanitizer and bottled water for students and staff. KFOX14
- ➤ Dr. Josue D. Borrego was appointed by the Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees on Monday during a special meeting and will assume his new role later this month following a state-mandated waiting period—he previously served as an executive with Houston ISD. KFOX14
