- ➤ El Paso Museum of Art reopened on Saturday after a $3.5 million renovation that included interactive spaces and the traveling Frida Kahlo—Sus Fotos exhibit featuring 241 personal photos available through May 17. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Customs and Border Protection began constructing a wall at Mount Cristo Rey last month with controlled explosions to form its concrete base; the work will finish in October 2027 + conservationists warn the project will block a key wildlife corridor. El Paso Matters

- ➤ Doctors in El Paso advise residents to check their blood pressure + cholesterol, BMI and blood sugar levels through routine screenings and maintain healthy lifestyles to prevent heart disease; Dr. Byomesh Tribathi recommends that anyone over 40 schedule a screening to catch risk factors early and avoid emergencies. - ➤ Dr. Jennifer George, an El Paso transplant surgeon, says living kidney donation can reduce the typical three- to five-year wait for a kidney transplant—especially for patients with diabetes or high blood pressure. She advises those at risk to seek early screening. KVIA

- ➤ Pavlovian edged favorite Express Kid in yesterday’s Sunland Derby at Sunland Park & trainer Doug O’Neill celebrated his fourth Derby win with jockey Edwin Maldonado clocking a winning time of 1:42.22. El Paso Times
- ➤ UTEP Cheer hosted its 18th annual cheerleading championship Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Don Haskins Center. Competitors from elementary, middle and high schools competed, and grand champions earned a banner & 10 complimentary registrations for UTEP Summer Cheer Camp. KFOX14
- ➤ At Sunland Park, the 21st running of the $500K Sunland Derby took place Sunday, Feb. 15, awarding Derby-qualifying points to top finishers. The event featured six stakes races (including the $250K Oaks) as trainer Justin Evans sought his first win with favorite Express Kid. KFOX14
