  • Comedian Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias will join Taco Palenque's meet-and-greet today at 7122 Gateway Blvd. E., Suite B, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where he will introduce a limited-time Fluffy Taco menu featuring a $10 Fluffy Combo (price exclusive to the event).  El Paso Times
  • The 6th Annual Deputy Peter J. Herrera Memorial 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for March 8 at Ascarate Park to honor the late deputy and support his scholarship fund, with early registration available through March 5 and packet pickup ending March 7.  KFOX14

  • El Paso schools have spring break dates set from March 2 to 25 while local groups host art camps at the Museum of Art, STEAM camps at La Nube & wildlife programs at the Zoo; families can join in organized activities during the holidays.  El Paso Matters
  • Canutillo ISD voted 6-0 against SB11, a policy that would require prayer opportunities during school, and said it already provides voluntary after-school prayer options to respect all religions. The decision joins similar moves by EPISD and Socorro ISD.  KVIA

  • Homeowners in El Paso are urged by tree service companies to prune trees and inspect for dead branches as the windy spring season in March and April approaches; regular maintenance may help prevent falling trees and costly damage.  KFOX14

  • A recent donation of lifelike dolls to the Connections memory care program at The Legacy at Cimarron is helping elderly residents with dementia reconnect and communicate, as staff say the dolls evoke caregiving roles that spark gentle rocking and smiles.  KVIA

  • Former NFL star Emmitt Smith visited Walmart (7555 North Mesa) on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 2-4 p.m. and gave the first 25 fans an autographed Old Spice bottle.  El Paso Times
  • UTEP lost a 67-63 game to New Mexico State Aggies after Jamal West scored 22 points and will face Middle Tennessee tomorrow in their second meeting.  El Paso Inc.
  • MountainStar Sports Group announced Tuesday its leadership transition as Alan Ledford became Senior Advisor (providing strategic guidance on projects including a new soccer stadium) while Brad Taylor became President and GM for the El Paso Chihuahuas, tasked with overseeing baseball operations and community engagement.  KVIA
  • Burges beat Hanks 86-81 after scoring 14 unanswered points to secure a playoff spot; the Mustangs will meet Amarillo Palo Duro in the area round this weekend (their record is now 22-11, while Hanks finished 16-18).  El Paso Times
  • During the UIL State Basketball Playoffs on Monday and Tuesday, the Eastlake Falcons beat Midland Legacy Rebels 66-42 for the 6A title and Chapin Huskies won 45-40 over El Dorado for the 5A title; Eastlake will next face North Crowley while Chapin meets Tascosa.  KFOX14
