ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ El Paso Electric announced bill credits on upcoming bills due to lower fuel costs — $16.14 on March and April bills and $31.44 in May for a total refund of over $40 million. This follows a Feb. 20 Public Utility Commission approval of a rate increase that will add about $13.71 to monthly bills. KFOX14

- ➤ EPISD students created an art exhibit celebrating Black History Month that honors iconic Black leaders through student artwork. The exhibit, organized by EPISD + Eta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is open until March 25 at the EPISD Art Gallery at 1014 N. Stanton. KVIA

- ➤ Border Catholic bishops met on Friday at the El Paso Catholic Diocesan Pastoral Center (499 St. Matthews St.) and urged U.S. and Mexican officials to protect migrant dignity by restoring asylum access, due process, and family unity. They called for limits on detention and encouraged local volunteer support. El Paso Matters
- ➤ High school students across El Paso County are invited by the Sheriff's office to design original black-and-white line art for its first law enforcement-themed coloring book. Selected artwork will be featured in the fall, and entries must be submitted electronically. KVIA
- ➤ El Paso County invites volunteers to plant 155 trees at three free events starting today at Estrella Park, with later sessions at Coyote Park and the County Sportspark under a $20,000 grant. A naloxone vending machine installed at UTEP now offers free Narcan in the Union Building to help reverse opioid overdoses. El Paso Matters

- ➤ El Paso community leaders are urging ongoing conversations about teen dating violence during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month to promote healthy relationships and educate teens on identifying warning signs. - ➤ Local health officials confirmed 17 measles cases, with four among residents and 13 at Camp East Montana. They urge residents to review immunization records and get two MMR doses to protect against the virus. KVIA

- ➤ Brad Taylor was promoted to president of the Chihuahuas while remaining the team’s general manager, and Alan Ledford will serve as a senior advisor, the organizations announced on Feb. 27.
