  • The Elmont is launching its 2026 Swim Club season with spring and summer concerts for electronic music fans at the Montecillo location.   • Gas prices in Texas rose to $3.129 per gallon as of Monday, March 9 — driven by global supply concerns amid Iranian unrest that led to shutdowns in key shipping lanes. AAA reported the price increase from $2.616 last week, amid fears of prolonged supply disruptions.  El Paso Times
  • Borderland pecan farmers are turning to alternative water sources as drought forces them to pump groundwater – which brings challenges with salty water and rising production costs. Their methods impact the region’s pecan supply and reflect changes in climate conditions.  KVIA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • El Paso High hosted Tiger Palooza yesterday, offering students with different abilities a day of school spirit, sports, and STEM activities alongside 250 student leaders and 150 participants. The event marked its eighth year as a celebration of inclusive learning.  KFOX14

  • Drivers will face nightly closures on South Desert and adjacent ramps starting Tuesday, Mar. 10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews complete final striping and safety repairs for the I-10 widening West Project (scheduled through mid-March) with detours directing traffic to alternate routes.  KVIA
