  • Local musician Krystal Poppin will shoot a free throw at the Houston Rockets' Noche Latina game Friday, March 20, with a successful shot triggering a $5,000 charity donation as she pursues a music career that connects with her community.  KFOX14

  • AAA reports that gas prices in El Paso have risen to $3.69 a gallon, up 14 cents in one day and roughly 45 cents from a week ago—exceeding both state and national averages. Drivers are advised to adjust their driving habits to save fuel.  KFOX14

  • El Paso ISD has launched a new Family Help Desk hotline that offers bilingual support Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents with questions about enrollment, transportation, or student services may call 915-230-2581 or email for prompt assistance.  KFOX14
  • UTEP celebrated the renovation of Memorial Gym with a community reception on campus. The updated facility now offers improved amenities for athletics and academics.  El Paso Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • El Paso County officials met with Chihuahua state leaders today to explore operational efficiencies (at the Tornillo-Guadalupe Port of Entry) while advancing aerospace growth, and they signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (to establish a binational committee for coordinated development) in El Paso.  KFOX14

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local doctors at Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso are spotlighting Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month this March to encourage screenings+support research and lower deaths from colorectal cancer, the nation’s second-leading cause of cancer deaths.  KVIA

  • The El Paso Chihuahuas unveiled their new Matachines identity on Thursday, March 12 at Southwest University Park, honoring a traditional local dance. The team will debut updated uniforms — and themed food menus during six home games starting March 27.  El Paso Times
  • Monster Jam driver Bari Musawwir drives the 'Zombie' truck today at 5 p.m. at the Sun Bowl Stadium, fulfilling his childhood dream and returning for his third El Paso show. He will also compete on Sunday at 3 p.m. with tickets ranging from $59.30 to $148.  El Paso Times
  • Today at 7 p.m., Kings Promotions hosts a pro boxing card at El Paso County Coliseum with five fighters—Nayeli Rodriguez, Ivy Enriquez, Ariana Carrasco, Pedro Rodarte and D'Angelo Sanchez—and two additional bouts featuring featherweight and middleweight matchups.   • Monster Jam returns to El Paso with 12-foot trucks and a new Bailey Circuit truck making its first appearance today and tomorrow at UTEP Sun Bowl Stadium. Saturday is sold out, but Sunday tickets remain available.  KVIA
