  • The Downtown main library reopened today after a four-year closure for pandemic measures and renovations costing $7M—marking 70 years since its founding.  El Paso Inc.
  • Today the El Paso Five Points Lion club held an Easter egg hunt for visually impaired children using special eggs that make a chipping sound to help them find the eggs. Organizer Rose Lucero said the event also let parents learn about a free week-long camp that offers swimming—fishing, archery and horseback riding with round-the-clock expert care.  KVIA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • El Paso Fire crews quickly put out a house fire along the 1000 block of East Yandell early Sunday before 1 a.m., and no injuries were reported as utility teams from El Paso Electric + Texas Gas responded.  KTSM

CRIME NEWS

  • Police are looking for a driver in a silver Nissan 370Z with New Mexico plates and a Texas sticker after he fled stops on Oct. 11th at Lee Trevino Drive and Vista Del Sol Drive, on March 22nd at 4:30 p.m. near Rich Beem Boulevard, and on March 28th when he allegedly drove onto landscaping—tried to hit an officer on Tays Street in Segundo Barrio.  El Paso Times

  • El Paso Comic Con hosted an annual sensory-friendly hour for attendees with sensory sensitivities to explore booths in a quiet setting before the event opened to everyone. Mike Dee’s Big Adventure partnered with a local children's hospital to adjust the space for a calm experience—helping families enjoy the show without stress.  KVIA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City Council will soon decide whether to support HB 4591 — a bill that would let the pension board request taxpayer funds for a 1.5% cost-of-living increase without a public vote and could add about $6 million a year, while some officials warn of fiscal risks. Pension fund leaders say the bill simply formalizes a measure already approved by voters, and the council plans further discussions.  El Paso Matters
  • El Paso is moving ahead with the Deck Plaza project to cover a stretch of I-10 and boost local quality of life. City officials will review funding options this week—planning to use a mix of public and private funds and start construction in 2027 if approved.  KFOX14
