- ➤ A video posted Tuesday showed two incidents of owners yanking their dogs’ leashes, and Animal Services supervisor Alberto Ortiz said his team will investigate any mistreatment and remove pets from danger while advising owners to avoid causing pain (report suspected cruelty at 915-212-7297). - ➤ 915 Lobos will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, May 16 at Painted Dunes Golf Course with registration at 7:30 a.m. and play beginning at 9:00 a.m. The event will raise scholarship funds for high school students to attend a four-year college in Alpine (tickets cost $100 per person). - ➤ El Paso will host a weeklong America 250 celebration from June 27 to July 4. Country singer Chris Young will open the Pop Goes the Fort concert on June 27 and the Randy Rogers Band will conclude the event at San Jacinto Plaza on July 4. El Paso Times
- ➤ El Paso is set to celebrate retro culture on June 20 at the Convention Center during the Totally Rad Vintage Fest — the festival features vintage vendors, a retro arcade, and a museum of pop culture relics that offer interactive experiences for all ages. KFOX14
- ➤ The Borderland Jam graffiti show returns to Segundo Barrio from April 17 to 19, with local and international artists creating murals at Frontier Food and Cold Storage (at South Cotton Street and Fourth Avenue) alongside live music and food; the works are expected to last up to a year. - ➤ Water managers along the Rio Grande warn that extreme drought and record-early snowmelt have cut reservoir levels, with Elephant Butte at 13% capacity (and most others below 15%), which may limit water for agriculture and municipal use. - ➤ TxDOT said Socorro Road safety improvements—including new sidewalks, signals and landscaping—are expected to nearly finish by early May while El Paso Electric extends work on electrical boxes through summer. - ➤ The El Paso Police Department is launching HEART as part of a new effort to connect unhoused people with essential services plus volunteer groups. The program will respond in 20 minutes on the west side and is set to roll out citywide in the near future. KFOX14
