  • The 47th Annual Mimbela Family Northeaster Parade began today at 10 a.m. in Northeast El Paso, traveling from Hercules Avenue through Diana Drive to Hondo Pass with festive floats honoring a 'Traditional Easter' theme and local groups including the Easter Bunny. Army 1st Sgt. Dan Webb served as Grand Marshal—recognized for his work supporting veterans and the homeless—while organizers encouraged community participation with themed outfits and displays.  KVIA
  • Today protesters gathered at the corner of Hawkins Blvd. and Montana Ave—holding signs and chanting 'Bring back Kilmar' as they demanded equal due process for all. Organizer Pedro Sandoval said he expects more protests if rights are not extended to everyone.  KVIA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vehicle crashed into parked cars at White Spur Park on Saturday at 12:33 p.m. (4800 Love Rd) injuring two people—one with minor injuries who was taken to the hospital and a second who suffered serious injuries while park goers restrained the driver as police investigated.  KVIA
  • A multivehicle crash involving five vehicles occurred in Culberson County last night, April 19, on I-10 West near mile markers 153—154 with no major injuries, and traffic remains diverted until tow trucks clear the scene.  KTSM

CRIME NEWS

  • Nearly six years ago a mass shooting at Walmart in El Paso left 23 dead and united the community as the gunman now serves a life sentence — the town continues to honor the victims.  El Paso Times
  • At about 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, near Five Points in Central El Paso, a 32-year-old motorcyclist turning left was struck by a dark-colored four-door Chevrolet—possibly a Malibu or Impala—with visible front damage that fled the scene, and Crime Stoppers is asking for help as the injured rider was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.  KTSM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The DEA will partner with local law enforcement for its National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in El Paso and West Texas. Residents can drop off unneeded medications at more than 10 sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 — sites will not accept syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs.  KTSM

  • The El Paso Chihuahuas postponed their game against the Albuquerque Isotopes because of strong winds and will hold a doubleheader today with seven-inning games. The first game will begin at 12:05 p.m. at Rio Grande Credit Union Field in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  KVIA
