- ➤ El Paso Matters won seven first-place honors from the Texas Managing Editors awards (held this weekend at the convention center downtown). The nonprofit newsroom was recognized for investigative reporting on data centers, breaking news, community service and local immigration coverage, showing its strong commitment to local journalism. - ➤ Veterans returned to El Paso International Airport from the free Honor Flight on Saturday after a trip to Washington to visit memorials; local residents welcomed them with signs, music and applause. KVIA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Candlelighters held a Day of the Children party event in El Paso – partnering with Stub Hub and KVIA to raffle BTS concert tickets for families. Arelene Sifuentes was drawn as the winner of the two tickets. KVIA
- ➤ Today a new mural by the late artist Hal Marcus was unveiled at the Casa Ford dealership to honor the region's first Thanksgiving. Luke Lowenfield, vice president of Casa Auto Group, said over a couple hundred locals attended the event featuring cultural performances (emphasizing community unity). KVIA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A power outage has been impacting about 1,500 customers in the Duranguito area since Sunday at 2:59 p.m.—crews are working to locate the cause and restore power. KVIA
- ➤ TxDOT announced that lanes on I-10 eastbound near Anthony reopened early after crews completed a major traffic switch ahead of schedule. Traffic changes remain in effect as crews continue work on the outside lanes. KVIA
- ➤ El Paso Water crews stabilized Cement Lake Dam in West El Paso after officials warned of a near collapse — roads reopened while teams continue to remove water and reinforce the structure. KFOX14

- ➤ At the Coliseum on Saturday, April 25, the CFC 6: Proving Grounds event drew 4,000 fans to watch eight MMA bouts that featured local fighters, debut wins, and an emotional farewell for a retiring competitor. KLAQ
