- ➤ Tens of thousands will attend BTS concerts, the Sol Summit Festival, and Comic Con across UTEP and Downtown this weekend, and officials urge fans to arrive early and use alternative transport as heavy traffic and limited parking are expected (road closures near the Sun Bowl Stadium). - ➤ Navy Federal Credit Union is partnering with the Armed Services YMCA to host Bags for the Brave, a Military Appreciation Month donation drive that collects travel-sized personal care items. Donations can be dropped off at four local branches until May 31. KFOX14
- ➤ Corpus Christi Monastery closed its doors Sunday after 59 years of service in Lower Valley El Paso — the Catholic Diocese said the Adoratrices can remain active at the Expiatory Chapel downtown. KVIA

- ➤ The Star on the Franklin Mountains is lit in purple from April 28 through May 4 to honor BTS and its ARMY, with organizers including the local BTS ARMY group & the Chamber. The display is expected to bring fans together under the Texas night sky. KFOX14
- ➤ Karol G will perform at the Sun Bowl on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 after adding a second show to her Tropitour, with ticket sales opening today at (10 a.m. MT) via Ticketmaster.com. KFOX14
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ EPISD is expanding its Teacher Incentive Allotment to include all core subject and special education teachers, boosting the program from 150 to over 2,300 participants for 2026-2027. The district is developing a similar compensation model for principals assessing leadership, student outcomes, and campus climate & will start this school year. KVIA

- ➤ Local officials closed roads near Cement Lake in west El Paso over fears that the dam at the Portland Reservoir might break; after lowering water levels, they reopened the streets and are monitoring the situation closely. KLAQ
- ➤ TxDOT finished switching I-10 eastbound lanes near the state line Saturday at 8:30 p.m., closing ramp exits for Anthony + Vinton to allow bridge work. Westbound traffic will see a change on May 18 when Exit 0 is removed. KFOX14

- ➤ El Paso caregiver Angelina Olivera urged the FDA to expedite treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy after losing two brothers (she now cares for her teenage son, Ryu) and invited the commissioner to visit her home to see daily challenges.
