- ➤ A Ft. Bliss soldier, Saúl Luna Villa, was sentenced to 27 years and four months for killing teen mom Aylen Marina B.V. when he shot her several times in Juárez's Anáhuac neighborhood on April 7 (he pleaded guilty and was extradited in February, and he must pay 1,949,000 pesos in damages). KVIA
- ➤ A 20-year-old man allegedly ran over an 18-year-old man at a Petro truck stop in Socorro on April 20th after a fight at a house party — he now faces murder and aggravated assault charges as another man suffered injuries. El Paso Times
- ➤ Residents in downtown El Paso expressed outrage over a fenced vacant lot on Myrtle and Noble that remains a hotspot for drugs, sexual encounters, and property damage, and City Representative Chris Canales said he will meet with the county's nuisance abatement team — and the county attorney — as residents demand action. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ El Paso County confirmed 38 measles cases as of April 30 from an outbreak that started in Gaines County & spread to border areas with 14 cases in Juárez and one in Doña Ana County. The El Paso Health Department extended clinic hours for free vaccines & is monitoring fewer than 10 active cases as state data are updated today. El Paso Matters
