- ➤ Due to new military buffer zone rules, the Border Network for Human Rights canceled the long-held Hugs Not Walls event and held a new event called Madres de La Frontera so families separated at the border can see their loved ones—changing a decade-long tradition. KVIA
- ➤ On Saturday, May 10, people met in El Paso for Madres de la Frontera: Love Without Borders to honor their mothers, place roses on the border wall, and protest the canceled Hugs Not Walls event because the area is heavily militarized — they stressed that separating families is wrong. - ➤ El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank partnered with the National Association of Letter Carriers for its 32nd annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive, where 150 volunteers gathered at 10 locations to collect canned goods, condiments, pasta, and cereal. - ➤ El Paso-based immigrant legal advocacy group Estrella del Paso received a $25,000 grant from the Catholic Border Refugee Assistance Fund on May 5 to provide free legal representation and rights workshops for migrants.
