- ➤ Movies at the Park returns with free screenings at parks every other Friday at 8:00 p.m., starting May 29 (Zootopia 2 opens the series at Cleveland Square Park). The city partners with local organizations to offer families an evening of movies and community gathering. KFOX14
- ➤ The 3rd Annual Viva La Lucha 5K will be held on Saturday, June 13 at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino from 7 a.m. to noon. Runners + wrestling fans can join the race for fitness and community fun as proceeds benefit League of Heroes outreach programs. KFOX14
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Speaking Rock Casino in El Paso will host a free concert on Aug. 1 featuring rock icon Gene Simmons and the band Slaughter. Concertgoers must be at least 21 years old and doors open at 6 p.m. KVIA
- ➤ El Paso muralist Babak Tavakoli painted five 30-foot murals at the downtown fire station (South Florence Street) to honor firefighters and celebrate each special team. His largest work highlights Jackie Manriquez in uniform. KFOX14

- ➤ Former cadet Paul Ramirez returns as El Paso High’s new JROTC instructor after serving in the Army for 20 years. He brings military experience and accolades including a Purple Heart to inspire cadets at his alma mater. KFOX14
- ➤ El Paso Community College will hold three commencement ceremonies on May 18 at the Don Haskins Center with over 2,300 students, including 948 high school learners, walking the stage. The ceremonies will run at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m., and parking is free at designated UTEP lots (subject to clear bag policy). KVIA
