- ➤ Southern California soul group Thee Sacred Souls will perform with rising acts La Lom and The Womack Sisters at the El Paso County Coliseum on Tuesday, Aug. 25 as part of their 2026 North American tour. KFOX14

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ El Paso ISD will share its financial update and long-term budget stabilization plan at a Board meeting on May 19. The district faces rising costs and a recent CFO resignation, and it is working with an external auditor to guide recovery. KFOX14
- ➤ Socorro ISD is weighing costs to add three-point seatbelts to its 275 buses as required by a new Texas law, with its board set to review estimates later today (129 already meet the requirement) while projections range from $3.5 million for retrofits to $23 million for new buses. KFOX14
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ El Paso Water detailed its response to a potential dam breach threat at Cement Lake—where a sudden breach could have flooded nearby roads with water, sediment and debris—and explained that crews lowered levels by 17 feet in late April; roads later reopened while long-term repair plans are under review. - ➤ A large power outage affected over 26,000 customers near Dyer and Sun Valley yesterday morning, with power scheduled to be restored by 8:30 a.m. according to El Paso Electric, and the cause remains under investigation. KFOX14
- ➤ El Paso Electric reported that 1,092 customers lost power on Eastside on May 13 after the outage began at 12:13 p.m. (between George Dieter and Pellicano Drive) with restoration expected by 2:15 p.m. KFOX14
