ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 13, an electrical fire in a Horizon City home destroyed the property, resulting in the deaths of a grandmother and four family dogs and displacing her adopted son while the family asks the community for support with funeral expenses and emergency needs. KVIA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Don Omar will perform at the Don Haskins Center on October 25 as part of his Last King World Tour, with tickets going on sale May 22 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time so local fans should plan ahead. KFOX14
- ➤ Tiesto is set to headline The Elmont Swim Club on Saturday, June 13 after last summer's sold-out event. Tickets went on sale Monday at noon online. KFOX14
- ➤ Lady A will headline a free outdoor concert at Speaking Rock Casino (122 S. Old Pueblo Road) on Saturday, Sept. 26 with doors opening at 6 p.m., and the event is for guests aged 21 or older. KFOX14
- ➤ Colombian singer Juanes (Latin rock star) announced he will perform at Plaza Theatre on Oct. 7. Tickets went on sale on May 14 at 10 a.m. KFOX14
- ➤ Morat will perform at the Don Haskins Center on Feb. 28 as part of its Ya Es Mañana World Tour 2027, with tickets on sale Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. local fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early. KFOX14
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Convicted former judge Manuel Barraza and retired Border Patrol agent Adam Bauman will face off in the GOP runoff for the District 16 seat on May 26, with early voting held May 18-22 in our area. El Paso Matters
- ➤ City officials said the zoo is working to regain its accreditation after losing it over maintenance issues by joining an AZA peer mentor program and hiring a culture coach to improve operations. The zoo will start rebuilding the South American Pavilion this fall and hold director interviews later this month. KFOX14
- ➤ El Paso County released an RFP on May 11 to hire an organization to manage sports tourism and Coliseum operations, requiring bidders to boost hotel occupancy, recruit events, and develop regional marketing — including Fort Bliss partnerships and binational tourism. Proposals must show expertise with government contracts and financial oversight. KVIA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Monday night, a forum at Michelle T. Adjemian Recreation Center brought families, school leaders and mental health experts to offer resources and address bullying in East El Paso. City Rep.
