- ➤ Today, volunteers for the Honor Project placed flags and placards on headstones at Fort Bliss cemetery to honor fallen heroes as more than 3,000 volunteers nationwide came together — and families received a chance for personal tributes this Memorial Day Weekend. KVIA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ In 1900, El Paso held an elaborate Memorial Day tribute with a parade featuring bugle calls, speeches, and veterans decorating graves in the city’s parks (honoring fallen soldiers from several wars). This event highlighted a deep local respect for military service. El Paso Times
- ➤ City officials announced Friday that they will install Pride-themed decorative cylinders on streetlights around Pride Square on Stanton Street to bring color to downtown ahead of Pride Month celebrations. The work will continue into the last week of May. KVIA
