  • On Memorial Day, Victory for Veterans hosted a 'Flower On Every Grave' event at Fort Bliss National Cemetery to honor fallen service members by placing roses at every grave—supporting its mission to reduce veteran suicides. The event began at 8 a.m. and called on community volunteers and local businesses to participate.  KVIA
  • El Paso brothers dismantled a Boeing 727 from the airport after buying it at auction, removing its engines, wings, and nose cone on May 23 to start moving parts to Ismael Lara’s property. They used heavy equipment and permits to handle hazardous materials so the plane can be restored into a community space—an effort that took two months and cost thousands of dollars.  El Paso Matters

  • El Paso police said that 90-year-old Helen Clanan died days later at the hospital after she was hit in a crosswalk by a GMC Sierra turning left onto Stahala Dr—65-year-old Diana Garcia Johnson of San Elizario was driving, and Clanan's death is the 24th traffic fatality in the city this year.  KVIA

  • During Memorial Day weekend, the El Paso DWI Task Force made 8 DWI arrests, 1 narcotics arrest, 1 criminal mischief arrest, and 4 warrant arrests while issuing 21 citations from Sunday night into early Monday morning—actions intended to curb drunk driving in the county.  KVIA
  • El Paso police identified 19-year-old Angel Salazar—fatally shot Friday night on the 12400 block of Flora Alba Drive in far east El Paso—and detectives investigated the case while urging anyone with information to come forward.  KFOX14

  • Midland, a chart-topping country band known for hits like 'Drinkin’ Problem,' will perform at Cowtown Event Center, 11451 Gateway Blvd. W in El Paso on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.+ they have built a strong local following. Tickets are available now+ local fans expect a full house.  KTSM
  • Thirteen-year-old Jack Carlin from El Paso turned his fear of the dark into a global movement by turning off lights, drawing millions of views and invitations to major events—he will be featured in a full report on ABC-7 this Thursday, May 29 at 10 p.m.  KVIA

  • Canutillo ISD will hold a budget workshop tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at its Administration Office to review a reduced shortfall of $1.4 million following workforce cuts, and the board will also discuss a drop in enrollment by 120 students and plans to appoint an interim superintendent after leadership changes.  KFOX14
  • El Paso Independent School District will discuss superintendent Diana Sayavedra’s contract today at 5:30 p.m. at EPISD Headquarters—after two new board members were elected and the board reversed the closure of Lamar Elementary amid budget and hiring concerns.  KVIA
