- ➤ Community members are working to restore La Purísima Concepción — built in 1680 — as its roof needs repair before rising summer rain. The Socorro Mission Restoration Campaign invites supporters to a fundraising event at Bodega Loya on Oct. 17 to help raise $2.8 million. KVIA

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Graduation ceremonies for many El Paso-area high schools begin on May 27 and extend into June, with most events held at (Don Haskins Center) and others at local venues. Schools set specific times and enforce rules that ban items such as outside food and professional cameras. El Paso Times
- ➤ El Paso ISD’s Citizens Bond Committee met at the Young Women’s STEAM Academy (4th of 8 meetings) to review critical projects including roofing, HVAC, and campus safety upgrades plus possible school replacements. The committee will vote on the master plan on June 11 before school board review in August. KFOX14
- ➤ Socorro Independent School District presented a $550.5M balanced budget today during a trustee meeting and set a public notice for June 7 with a hearing scheduled for June 17. The proposal covers $466.2M in the general fund, supports 45,000 students, and comes amid rising operating costs. KFOX14
