ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police responded to a fatal crash in northeast El Paso after 2 a.m. Sunday near Loop 375 — Spur 601 interchange, and one person died in the incident.  KFOX14

CRIME NEWS

  • El Paso police are asking for help to identify two suspects who broke a lock and stole $10,000 in painting equipment from a storage unit on Highway 54 Self Storage at 11707 Dyer Street on April 14 at 2 p.m.—one suspect is a Hispanic male with a mustache and the other is a heavy-built female in a black hooded jacket.  KFOX14
  • El Paso Police responded to a shooting on the 4800 block of Dyer Street early Sunday morning—one person was severely injured and taken to University Medical Center while the Crimes Against Persons Unit began its investigation.  KFOX14

CULTURE NEWS

  • Old photos from the 1920s show El Paso's past with images of famous people such as Charles Lindbergh, Jake Erlich, and Will Rogers—along with scenes from Hotel Dieu, early UTEP, and a Christmas party with reindeer.   • The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders wowed El Paso fans on Saturday night at the Abraham Chavez Theatre with jump splits, flips and strong kicks that thrilled the crowd. Fans voted for local dancer Nadia, and director Kelli Finglass chose her to move on to the final team audition on June 14 — marking the first special Texas show apart from their USO Tour.  El Paso Times

  • Tornillo ISD marked its 100th graduating class when valedictorian Mia Cordova earned top honors and college credits while planning to study biomedical sciences at UTEP—district leaders face challenges with falling enrollment and limited funding amid decades of change. Officials said the small, historic school continues to value close community ties as it adapts to new opportunities and financial pressures.  El Paso Matters

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Cesar J. Blanco approved a state budget that includes over $146 million for El Paso projects such as $65 million for a new Fox Cancer Center, $50 million for a mental health facility, and $20 million for UTEP's Mining Engineering Program & additional funds for water augmentation, an I-10 Deck Park, a NASA partnership, tramway replacement, food bank support, historic preservation and public defender grants. The funding is designed to boost local health, safety and long-term growth.  KVIA
  • The Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on May 30, letting his probe of Annunciation House continue— the case was sent back to district court for further steps after a judge’s order blocking access to the nonprofit’s records was overturned.  El Paso Times
