ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Late Friday, a two-car crash at the intersection of Redd Rd. and Doniphan Dr. — in West El Paso — left one person with serious injuries who was taken to a hospital while three others declined treatment.  KVIA

CRIME NEWS

  • A 37-year-old El Paso woman was found dead Tuesday in a vacant building on the 400 block of Booneslick Road in New Florence, Missouri — her body is under investigation after being reported missing on Feb 5 and her name was not released by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.  KVIA
  • A body found in a vacant building in rural Missouri on June 6 was identified as a missing 37-year-old woman from El Paso, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said—her cause of death remains undetermined as forensic tests continue.  KTSM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • El Paso High celebrated its Class of 2025 at R.R. Jones Stadium on June 6—398 students walked the stage, including valedictorian Noah Sebesta, who graduated with a 4.83 GPA and will attend Cornell University to study chemistry, and salutatorian Emma Waren, who graduated with a 4.78 GPA and will attend Brown University for biochemistry.  El Paso Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar said at a town hall on June 7 at Horizon High School that the GOP budget bill passed by the House would cut health care and nutrition programs and add to the national debt, and she urged the Senate to block it. She also warned that the planned pause on the local Job Corps program—linked to pandemic-related financial issues—could hurt job training opportunities in El Paso.  KTSM
  • On June 14th, 1955, about 5000 El Pasoans in 1000 cars left the city along Dyer street and Highway 54 during a drill simulating an enemy air raid. Civil Defense officials called the test a complete success — the structured evacuation proved that the city could be cleared quickly if needed.  El Paso Times

  • Today, Cielo Vista Mall and the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation hosted the 4th annual Cancer Survivor Line Dance Celebration in honor of National Cancer Survivor Month where locals danced in 80s outfits and saw art made by survivors—organizers said more than 100 people and many volunteers took part.  KVIA
