- ➤ A fire burning on Mescalero Apache tribal land near Mescalero stayed at 805 acres on Saturday, June 21 while 256 firefighters—using 10 crews, 13 engines, three helicopters, two water tenders, and a bulldozer—worked to build and improve containment lines. Officials said crews plan to secure more firelines and order a BAER team for post-fire recovery while roads remain closed and residents are urged to drive with caution. KTSM
