EDUCATION NEWS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • El Paso residents are on alert as a flood watch is in effect with heavy monsoon rains expected to bring four to six inches of rain over some neighborhoods—residents in flood-prone areas are advised to prepare as El Paso Water offers free sandbags to help protect property. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT shared updates on road work as crews closed lanes and changed exits on projects such as the Mesa westbound and Purple Heart, with crews aiming to finish Purple Heart work by mid-July and open the Iron Medics on-ramp by the end of June. • A federal judge blocked a Treasury order that forced two local money service providers to collect personal details on transactions over $200—calling the mandate arbitrary and capricious to shield the businesses from harm. • Today, the El Paso City Council voted against El Paso Electric's plan to raise rates by 22 percent, or $23 a month, starting early 2026. Electric officials said the increase is needed to cover infrastructure costs and that the proposal still awaits review by the Public Utility Commission of Texas.  KVIA
