- ➤ A 44-year-old owner of Road Runner Disposal was arrested on July 3 by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office for illegally dumping over 1,000 pounds of waste—over 200 cubic feet was found on a private lot on North Ascension Street on June 23—and his bond was set at $2,000. KTSM
- ➤ An El Paso woman —Rebecca Herrera— drove the wrong way at 99 mph on U.S. 54 while drunk in a 2023 crash in Otero County that took the life of 21-year-old Isaac Garcia, and she was found guilty of vehicular homicide while she now awaits sentencing and faces up to 18 years in prison. - ➤ The Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces said it opposes any border barrier construction near Mount Cristo Rey because it would harm the site’s historic and religious significance — the border project by CBP in Doña Ana County now faces additional review after the comment period closed on July 3.
