ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Fort Bliss soldier's family was caught in flash flooding near Ruidoso on Tuesday—two children aged 7 and 4 died—while the soldier and spouse sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment.  KVIA

CRIME NEWS

  • El Paso police booked 32-year-old Paul Ivan Gonzalez Tuesday after he left the hospital, and he is accused of shooting an officer and a facility manager at a Lower Valley manufacturing plant on June 23—charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon—while both victims remain stable.  KFOX14
  • El Paso County’s Safe Streets Operation on the Fourth of July weekend led to 53 arrests and 128 citations during high-visibility patrols that included a chase ending in the seizure of 1.1 pounds of meth—with no major crashes, shootings or traffic fatalities reported.  El Paso Times
  • El Paso Police said they are searching for 21-year-old Jazmin Martina Munoz—who is 7 weeks pregnant and was last seen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the 10400 Block of Sigma in a white 2015 Chrysler 200 with license plate VLC9930 while wearing a red shirt and black pants—and ask anyone with information to call police at 915-832-4400 or 911.  KVIA
  • On Wednesday morning, law enforcement captured 36-year-old inmate David Oswaldo Parra Jr. at Washington Park—near Alameda Avenue and Washington Street—after he escaped from receiving medical treatment at UMC and officers placed Jefferson High School on lockdown during a multi-agency search that ended at about 9:48 a.m.  KFOX14

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, July 8th, residents near the Marathon Refinery reported huge plumes of fire and smoke from flaring due to a power outage and said they could not reach a local contact number for urgent updates—calling for meetings, an alert system, and better air quality monitoring. Marathon said no injuries occurred and that air monitoring showed no off-site impact while urging residents to use its 24-hour call number for any concerns.  KFOX14
