  • Parents in East El Paso now have access to We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym — located at 1410 Lee Trevino Dr — which offers 12 pieces of sensory equipment designed for children with autism, special disabilities, and typical development. Owners Martin and Andrea Morales opened the gym after recognizing the need for a safe area where kids facing sensory challenges can play.  KTSM

  • A pedestrian was fatally struck on Saturday at the intersection of Alameda and Gibraltar in south-central El Paso — police are investigating the incident and warning drivers to expect delays.  KFOX14

  • An archive piece revisits 1955 with rare photos showing military tests at Fort Bliss - a major fire in Deming - and movie stars Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor filming Giant near Marfa. The collection also includes images of alligators at San Jacinto Plaza - early zoo plans that capture life back then.  El Paso Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • El Paso ISD will host its third annual Back to School Fiesta from July 29-31 at 10 high schools to offer games, music and free school supplies for families preparing for the new academic year—families can also meet campus staff and get essential school information.  KTSM
  • Canutillo ISD announced on July 14 that Veronica M. Campbell has returned as the new purchasing agent—she brings nearly 15 years of procurement experience from school and municipal roles and previously served in the district from 2015 to 2016.  KTSM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Recent quarterly tests showed that all four of CRRUA's arsenic treatment plants, serving Santa Teresa and Sunland Park, remained below the federal limit of 10 parts per billion and met New Mexico state regulations. Executive Director Juan Crosby said the results mark the third consecutive test period of compliance—confirming adherence to the Safe Drinking Water Act.  KTSM

  • El Paso VA Health Care Center and the Waco VA Regional Office will host Summer VetFest and a PACT Act Claims Clinic at 5001 N. Piedras from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26—veterans and their families will meet VA representatives to learn benefits, submit PACT claims, and enjoy a resources fair, free back-to-school supplies, food trucks, live entertainment, and a car seat check-up from TxDOT and the University Medical Center Foundation.  KTSM
  • El Paso County Sheriff's Office is offering an amnesty period from tomorrow through Friday for people with active criminal warrants to resolve their cases at county courts and schedule a fast track booking appointment by calling 915 273 5143 or 915 273 3762 & authorities will conduct a warrant round-up from July 28 to August 1.  KVIA
  • Last Friday, a rocket launched from White Sands carried a scientific payload to test new technology for studying solar flares and space weather that affect Earth, shaking nearby buildings as it lifted off. Professor Phillip Chamberlain led the five-year project that will help improve models for future space missions—an effort supported by NASA, the Navy and the Army.  KVIA
