  • Vado is cleaning up this morning after flash flooding raised water levels to four feet and residents are asked to leave debris at the curb by 9 a.m.—Dona Ana County and construction crews like Sandoval Construction and Nine Degrees Construction are pumping water and using Vado Elementary School as a staging area for relief efforts.  KVIA
  • El Paso County hosted the family-friendly resource fair Barks, Branches, and Bookworms on Saturday—providing free pet vaccinations, microchipping, and educational activities for families. Attendees enjoyed free hot dogs, music, and a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog—while the Canutillo Community Center opened a cooling center.  KVIA

CRIME NEWS

  • Hugo Vasquez, 51, with H&V Remodeling was arrested and booked for theft of property and deceptive business practices after detectives from the East Montana Patrol Station investigated reports that his company took payments for home renovations that were never completed, with a bond total of $14,000.  KVIA

  • A World War II-era chapel at White Sands Missile Range was designated as a pilgrimage site by the Military Archdiocese—an honor granted by Archbishop Timothy Broglio on June 20. The Sierra Chapel, originally built at Camp Luna and later moved to serve local Catholics, is open Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for community visits.  KTSM
  • Today, the El Paso Zoo invites locals to explore snakes at Reptilia: Celebration of Snakes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kalahari Research Station, Event Pavilion and Discovery classroom where live snakes from the zoo and private collectors + a demonstration from Wild Encounters are on display.  KVIA

HEALTH NEWS

  • A national program is pairing veterans with service dogs through suicide prevention training and case management as part of a new partnership between Endeavors and Canines for Warriors—Daniel F. was recently matched with his dog Dandy while staff train to spot suicide risks and provide virtual support tools. This initiative focuses on saving lives by offering veterans the critical help they need.  KVIA
