- ➤ El Paso cheer coach Christopher Sotelo was arrested on Aug. 30 for two counts of invasive visual recording after hiding cameras in restrooms at the Texas Bandits All-Stars facility—he posted bail on a $30,000 bond. El Paso Times

- ➤ Fabens is set to get the region’s first paved speedway as part of a $17 million project led by Gerald 'Jerry' Kandler that will break ground in late October and open its first phase next summer—designed to host racing, concerts and festivals while spurring local economic activity.
