- ➤ A SWAT standoff ended when Jaime Jimenez—45—surrendered and was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a shooting wounded two people in eastern El Paso County near the 14000 block of Loera Street on Sept 6; he is held without bond under a new Texas law. - ➤ Deputies arrested a 45-year-old man on Saturday night after two people were shot on the 14000 block of Loera in east El Paso—he surrendered following a brief standoff and now faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon while he is held at the county detention facility with no bond. - ➤ HSI and Border Patrol dismantled a human smuggling ring in El Paso when a driver rolled over while trying to evade U.S. Customs and Border Protection and arrested 35 individuals—2 at the scene and 28 at a connected stash house—with 25 held in ICE custody and 8 charged with illegal re-entry.
