  • Organizers of the Amigo Airsho say the two-day aviation event will be held on October 18—19 at Biggs Army Airfield with lower ticket prices, free water stations, and shuttle vehicles to improve the guest experience. Air show headliners F-16C Fighting Falcon Demo and Patriots Jet Team will perform impressive maneuvers for local fans.  El Paso Times
  • Many gathered today at the 2025 El Paso Water Festival as the free event celebrated the value of water with science demos, art activities, and giveaways of water saving showerheads. Local groups performed live music and food trucks offered treats — the event engaged the community with interactive booths.  KVIA

CULTURE NEWS

  • UTEP hosted a two-day International Day of Peace Symposium to promote peace and understanding in the community. Today the event runs from 1 to 5 pm—organizers say everyone is welcome to join discussions on topics like AI and consciousness and ethical consumption.  KVIA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, nearly two inches of rain fell at El Paso International Airport, marking the heaviest rainfall since 2006 and breaking a 142-year record—experts warn that this heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in areas with poor drainage. Meteorologists say drivers should stay alert and avoid flooded roads—safety is a priority.  KVIA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The El Paso County Attorney’s Office urged residents on Friday to guard against scams — checking estimates, verifying credentials and requiring written contracts to defend against deceptive business practices. Residents are advised to file complaints with local law enforcement or the relevant agencies if they suspect fraud.  KVIA
  • El Paso County and the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority reached an agreement to restart the Pellicano Drive Widening Project, with Hawk Construction set to complete the westbound segment between Aircoupe and Loop 375 by September 2026—design work on Phase 2 is expected to finish in late 2025. County officials said the full project will eventually include six lanes, raised medians and bike lanes.  KVIA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hospitals of Providence in partnership with Emerus broke ground on a 10,899-square-foot Gateway Emergency Room off I-10 at 11201 Gateway Boulevard West to expand emergency care in East El Paso—the facility will offer 10 beds, a triage room, onsite imaging and lab services and is expected to open in fall 2026.  KVIA

  • Players from Eastlake and Del Valle shared their reactions after Friday night's high school football games in Week 4—highlighting key moments from the matchups.  El Paso Times
  • UTEP lost 31-25 to Louisiana-Monroe after falling behind 31-7 early as a late rally did not close the gap. Injuries sidelined key players and the team fell to a 1-3 record as they prepare to host Louisiana Tech Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.  El Paso Times
  • The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks defeated the UTEP Miners 31-25 on Saturday at the Sun Bowl as UTEP narrowed the gap with two fourth-quarter touchdowns before turnovers halted their comeback. UTEP will host Louisiana Tech next Saturday.  KFOX14
