- ➤ El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 21-year-old for illegal dumping at the 200 block of Farnborough Street on Oct. 10 — after a caller reported dumped rocks, they found matching cement debris at a nearby construction site and booked him with a $1,500 bond. KVIA

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ El Paso Community College is hosting a disability-friendly job fair today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Valle Verde campus AST Building Flexitorium — the event is part of National Disability Employment Awareness month. The fair will offer on-site resume reviews and career support — and is free for students, faculty and community members. KVIA
- ➤ CREEED recognized the top five middle schools for high Algebra 1 scores at its 3rd annual Algebra and Middle School event — all winners came from Socorro ISD. The district has held all top spots for three years and reported that 90% of its eighth graders take the test, earning over $53,000 in funds and gift cards. KVIA
- ➤ Harmony Public Schools in El Paso saw its class of 2025 drop from 311 eighth graders in 2021 to 117 seniors at graduation—marking its largest enrollment decline since 2016. Many students left the charter school in search of broader academic and extracurricular programs. El Paso Matters
- ➤ UTEP, EPCC, and Texas Tech Health will host FAFSA informational sessions to help families learn about college costs and financial aid options. - ➤ El Paso International Airport launched a donation drive Monday to collect non-perishable food, gift cards up to $20 and personal care products to help TSA agents, air traffic controllers and other essential employees working without pay amid the government shutdown—donations can be dropped off at the terminal from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. KFOX14
- ➤ After the recent rainfall, El Paso streets developed potholes when water seeped into cracks and weakened the road—residents are urged to call 311 so city crews can quickly repair affected areas using hot mix asphalt and a grid system in regions with multiple reports. KVIA
