- ➤ A teen from Las Cruces who beat cancer donated toys to help patients at the El Paso Children's Hospital using his Make-A-Wish wish, while a 10-year-old girl used hers to fund sports equipment for adaptive sports — the first time Make-A-Wish New Mexico has granted two wishes at once in its 40-year history. - ➤ Flagstone Foods will cut 225 jobs at its El Paso facility by the end of 2025 as production shifts to North Carolina and Alabama—its facility will become the Emerald Nuts Center of Excellence in 2026 and is located near the El Paso International Airport. KVIA

- ➤ Los Angeles Azules will bring their Cumbia Sin Fronteras US Tour to El Paso on March 28, 2026 at the Don Haskins Center (UTEP). Tickets will go on sale Friday (October 24), giving fans time to plan for the upcoming show. KFOX14
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six high school marching bands from Ysleta ISD earned Division I Superior ratings last Saturday—advancing to UIL Area competitions. The bands will compete in Class 4A, 5A and 6A categories from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1 in locations including Abilene and the SISD Athletic Complex. KFOX14
- ➤ Socorro schools in El Paso began offering free suppers and snacks to children ages 1 to 18 starting Monday at several campuses. The program serves supper at Eastlake High from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. and at other schools from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m.—with free breakfasts and a fresh fruit and vegetable program also available. KFOX14
- ➤ UTEP has introduced new AI-powered manikins that breathe, blink, and respond like real patients in its Nursing Center for Simulation—students practice emergency scenarios and patient care with the technology.
