- ➤ Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center honored border heroes at its Border Heroes 2025 award celebration last Thursday—recognizing contributions to dignity and justice along the U.S.-Mexico border. The event included honorees such as Emmy Award-winning journalist Paola Ramos, Dr. David Dorado Romo, Jo Anne Bernal and Pauline Hovey. KFOX14
- ➤ Bubba's 33 in El Paso and Las Cruces will offer a free Veterans Day lunch for veterans and active military from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—serving six entree options when proof of service is shown. - ➤ The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is providing brand-new winter coats to nonprofits that serve children in need across El Paso — the long-running Operation Noel program now helps kids from toddlers to age 12 in both El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. - ➤ El Paso native Robert Arevalo mixed martial arts, acting, and filmmaking after he moved to Los Angeles at 18. He trained stars like Keanu Reeves and Jason Momoa—he now plays a tribal police officer in Tulsa King and works on new film scripts. KFOX14

- ➤ Veterans Day events will begin Nov. 8 across El Paso County including parades in El Paso, San Elizario, Horizon City, Clint, Socorro, Fabens and Anthony to honor local military service; government offices, libraries and schools will be closed for the holiday—residents are advised to check local schedules. - ➤ Congresswoman Escobar and local leaders will soon meet — as reports show some families have not yet received their SNAP benefits this month — to discuss resources for those in need. KVIA

- ➤ University Medical Center of El Paso was named among the top 5% for spine surgery by Healthgrades—placing it in the nation's 100 Best Hospitals. El Paso Inc.
- ➤ November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month in the borderland—smoking and nearby factory pollution put many El Pasoans at risk. Dr. Landy Luna Diaz at UMC reported 16,000 cases a year in El Paso and 40,000 statewide—urging residents living close to factories to check air quality and wear a mask. KVIA
- ➤ Del Sol Medical Center and Las Palmas Medical Center ranked top in Texas for critical care, gastrointestinal treatment, neurosciences and stroke care, state evaluators said. These ratings show the centers provide expert care — a sign of quality treatment for local patients. El Paso Inc.
