COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ HD Realty Group is hosting its annual turkey drive on Saturday, Nov. 22 to give free turkeys to 300 families this Thanksgiving. The event will be held at 637 Ascencion St. (sponsored by six local small business owners) and will continue until all turkeys are distributed. KFOX14
- ➤ A brand new Sparks Park opened today in Far East El Paso in the Sparks and Mission Ridge area where borderland leaders and local residents gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony. Children tested a nearly 6000 square foot playground that features a 20 foot high play tower, three swing bays, climbing features, and shade structures while the county will later build bikes and hiking trails. - ➤ Estine Davis died on Monday at age 92 in El Paso. She was a pioneering businesswoman who ran her long-standing Eastside Barbershop—located at the corner of Piedras and Alameda—and founded the Ms. Black El Paso pageant while mentoring local youth. KVIA

- ➤ Hyundai of El Paso celebrated the grand opening of its new location in East El Paso on Wednesday at 1571 Joe Battle Blvd with a ribbon-cutting ceremony—complete with a live DJ, food, and refreshments. Oscar Leeser thanked the community for over 20 years of support and invited locals to tour the new dealership. KFOX14
- ➤ Faith Technologies Incorporated is expanding to El Paso with a new 500,000-square-foot facility at Pellicano Industrial Park—over 200 skilled manufacturing and electrical jobs will be available for foremen, superintendents, and manufacturing leads initially. The project includes an $81.6M capital investment and is set to open in late spring or early summer 2026 following a tax rebate agreement by El Paso County Commissioners. KVIA

- ➤ U.S. Catholic bishops voted Tuesday to advance the beatification of Rev. Richard Thomas, a Jesuit priest who served the poor in El Paso, Las Cruces & Ciudad Juárez. His work, including a December 25 food drive at a Ciudad Juárez dump that fed hundreds, led to community programs that continue to influence local service efforts. El Paso Matters
- ➤ The El Paso Symphony Orchestra will play A Christmas Fantasia at the Plaza Theatre on December 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m., offering holiday songs including classics and a new piece by Eric Galluzzo. The event is sponsored by Becky and Bill Holmes and will feature conductor Bohuslav Rattay, soprano Erica Spyres and the UTEP Concert Choir. KFOX14
- ➤ El Paso will honor the late wrestling star on Tuesday, November 18 at City Hall with Eddie Guerrero Day, which will include plans to restore his mural and build a park, while the Tom Lea Institute hosts a free aviation art presentation on Saturday, November 15 at War Eagles Air Museum—more cultural events for families and art lovers are planned across the border. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ El Paso residents may soon pay up to $40 more a month as Texas Gas Service proposes a 27% rate hike that would raise bills by about $10 to $14, while El Paso Electric’s new rate case is still pending review. Local community meetings are held this week to gather public feedback before the Railroad Commission makes a final decision early next year — household costs will depend on these outcomes. KFOX14

- ➤ Canutillo ISD unveiled eight electric buses and eight charging stations in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday — the buses will operate by the start of the next semester and eventually replace older units. - ➤ The El Paso Independent School District announced an expansion of its food distribution sites—partnering with local organizations to provide client choice pantries at schools and public food sites with set schedules starting later this month to support students and families. KFOX14
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ El Paso Children’s Hospital posted its sixth year of profit despite lower net income, and CEO Cindy Stout earned $661,546 last year—a 35% raise over the previous year and her biggest pay bump since the hospital became profitable. The hospital did not release her contract details as questions over public records remain unresolved. El Paso Times
