COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Abundant Church in El Paso launched its True Heart of Abundant campaign on Nov. 16 by giving hundreds of baby care boxes with formula, diapers, wipes, and other essentials to families in need at its three campuses—following a viral TikTok call that led the church to act. The church said it will continue to show love and help the community through its expanded food pantry outreach—upholding its 48-year mission.  KFOX14

CULTURE NEWS

  • El Paso will honor WWE icon Eddie Guerrero on November 18 with a citywide proclamation at City Council, celebrating his deep ties to local lucha libre culture. The event will include his family members and community fans, with lowrider cars parked near City Hall—inviting residents to wear luchador masks as part of the tribute.  El Paso Matters

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the EPISD board meets to choose a finalist for the superintendent position that has been vacant since Diana Sayavedra left over four months ago. Board President Leah Hanany said the board will interview five candidates starting at 7:30 a.m. (with more interviews after 5 p.m.) as it focuses on academic excellence.  KFOX14

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • White House Border Czar Tom Homan will hold a conference at UTEP on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Undergraduate Learning Center (room 106), where he will speak and ask questions; the event is hosted by Turning Point USA.  KFOX14

SPORTS NEWS

  • The UTEP Miners — key local representatives — will face the New Mexico State Aggies in a CUSA game as both teams aim to boost their conference records. Officials have not shared game time details.  El Paso Inc.
  • The UTEP Miners lost 38 to 24 against Missouri State, dropping their record to 2 wins and 8 losses as repeated errors cost them the win—mistakes that show the team still struggles to improve. They will try younger players and seek new talent in the offseason to correct these faults.  El Paso Times
