- ➤ A new StudioRes by Marriott is coming near the intersection of Zaragoza and Rojas in far east El Paso. The $12.5 million project will offer modern studios with onsite laundry, fitness and self serve food and beverages. El Paso Times

- ➤ After a 2025 cancellation due to a government shutdown, Amigo Airsho will return to El Paso with a 2026 event on Oct. 24-25 featuring the Blue Angels and Golden Knights + a 2027 show on Oct. 9-10 headlined by the Thunderbirds. KFOX14
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The EPISD Board approved a one-time $300 stipend for eligible hourly employees to show support for their hard work. The payment will be issued on Dec. 15 & taxes will be deducted. KVIA
- ➤ La Nube STEAM Discovery Center launched Hour of AI to inspire kids to explore AI and coding with Minecraft in partnership with Microsoft TechSpark and the school district yesterday. The program will offer monthly workshops every third Saturday at 1 p.m. in 2026 to help families build tech skills. KFOX14
- ➤ Wendy Calderon said she discovered her 3-year-old daughter alone in a dark bathroom at Herrera Elementary in August, prompting her to seek accountability. The district reviewed camera footage on Dec. 5 and said it took administrative actions to ensure student safety. KFOX14
- ➤ The El Paso Independent School District will finalize the hiring of Dr. Brian Lusk as superintendent during tonight's meeting. Lusk, the lone finalist after reviewing five candidates, brings 30+ years of public school experience and is set to focus on student success. KVIA

- ➤ City of El Paso expands the Greater El Paso Landfill by constructing six new cells covering 65 acres at 2600 Darrington Road, scheduled for completion in 2026. The $20 million project will extend the landfill's life by about 12 years to help manage rising 2,000-ton daily trash volumes. KVIA
