  • El Paso International Airport is celebrating the holidays with decorations in its main lobby and surrounding areas until mid-January (pop-up events will replace the annual social due to parking construction).  El Paso Times
  • El Paso Water advises residents to wrap pipes with insulation and keep cabinet doors open during freezing temperatures to prevent leaks and bursts. It also reminds homeowners to locate the water meter and turn the knob 90 degrees to shut off water.  KVIA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • An OXXO store opened in central El Paso today at Boulevard West & Copia using a converted DK gas station. FEMSA will rebrand seven more DK locations by year-end with plans to expand to 77 stores by 2027.  KFOX14

  • Popular YouTuber Peter Santenello (4 million subscribers) visited El Paso and filmed local landmarks from the Paso Del Norte Bridge to UTEP, including Sacred Heart Church and Tacos El Tapatio (off Fort Boulevard) in a video that has reached over 730,000 views.  El Paso Times
  • El Paso’s Hanukkah celebrations continue at West El Paso’s Chabad Lubavitch Center for Jewish Life as Rabbi Levy Greenberg explains the traditions, with community members gathering for menorah lightings that began on Friday & will continue tonight and Sunday.  KFOX14

  • UMC El Paso’s board approved a 14% raise that boosts CEO Jacob Cintron’s salary to $1,128,582 & a bonus of $346,449, retroactive to Oct. 1 of the 2026 fiscal year during a Tuesday public meeting with a 6-0 vote and one abstention.  KFOX14

  • Former Del Valle star Jake Fette signed with Arizona State and celebrated his commitment with family at a Thursday ceremony. He will join Sun Bowl practices later this month and enroll for classes in January.  KFOX14
