  • El Paso Public Libraries held a birthday party for mascot Lea at the Clardy Fox Branch Library on Saturday afternoon. Families from across the borderland enjoyed games, prizes and photos with Lea and other mascots as public libraries director Norma Martinez said the event celebrated learning and community.  KVIA
  • Local resident Marie Claire Seoane, who battles achalasia (a rare esophageal disorder), discovered her biological family through a DNA test after weeks in the hospital. Her reunion with a relative from Canada has brought her peace and strength during her treatment.  KVIA

  • Taqueria Elemi, led by owner Emiliano Marentes, is launching a fresh restaurant concept on the Westside to serve Mexican-style tacos and unique dining experiences. The project is set to bring innovation and fun to the local community.  El Paso Times

  • El Paso Artist and Farmers Market celebrated its 15th anniversary on Saturday downtown, offering original artwork, handmade goods, food, and produce around San Jacinto Plaza. SPORTS NEWS

  • UTEP men's basketball season ended on Saturday, Mar. 7 when Jacksonville State won 64-61 on a buzzer beater by Mostapha El Moutauakkil (the Miners finished 11-20 as a brief fan confrontation occurred).  El Paso Times
  • The Burges boys basketball team lost 50-30 to Mansfield Summit in the Class 5A Division II regional final on March 6 at Lamesa High School (local fans witnessed the tight contest).  El Paso Times
  • El Paso Locomotive FC began its season on March 7 with a 2-2 tie against Colorado Springs at Southwest University Park; newcomer Rubio Ruben scored twice and new head coach Junior Gonzalez debuted before 6,079 fans.  El Paso Times
  • After a season-ending loss the previous night, a UTEP fan picked up a portable chair during a heated exchange with Jacksonville State players at the Don Haskins Center — UTEP officials said they will review video footage and take needed action.  El Paso Times
