  • Primark opened its international fashion store at Cielo Vista Mall on Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. as the first in El Paso, the second in Texas, and the 33rd in the country — President Kevin Tulip said more Texas locations will open within 12 months to serve local and Mexican customers.  KFOX14

CRIME NEWS

  • El Paso cheer coach Christopher Sotelo was arrested on Aug. 30 for two counts of invasive visual recording after hiding cameras in restrooms at the Texas Bandits All-Stars facility—he posted bail on a $30,000 bond.  El Paso Times

  • Kaitlyn Bradham began dancing at 5 in El Paso and has joined the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue dance team; she will debut at the Cowboys' home opener against the New York Giants on Sept. 14. Her journey from UTEP performances to a professional stage inspires local young dancers to pursue their dreams.  El Paso Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fabens is set to get the region’s first paved speedway as part of a $17 million project led by Gerald 'Jerry' Kandler that will break ground in late October and open its first phase next summer—designed to host racing, concerts and festivals while spurring local economic activity. El Paso County approved a $300,000 tax incentive over 10 years to meet job and safety requirements and boost local business.  El Paso Matters

  • Today, the FBI El Paso Field Office is hosting a free recruitment event at UTEP’s Natural Gas Conference Center (3 to 6 p.m.) so community members can speak with special agents, intelligence analysts, linguists, IT staff and view equipment displays from teams like SWAT and Bomb Technicians; college students will also learn about the FBI’s 2027 Honors Internship Program.  KVIA

  • UTEP, Norfolk State, North Dakota State & UC Irvine will compete in the 64th Annual Sun Bowl Invitational from Dec. 21 to 22, with UTEP defending its title. UTEP will tip off against Norfolk State on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. after UC Irvine plays North Dakota State at 5 p.m., and Saturday will feature the third-place and championship games.  El Paso Times
